ANOTHER PERSONA TEASER FROM KEVIN BRODEN...

Kevin Paul Shaw Broden is designing some intriguing interiors for "The Persona, Vol 2: The Green-Fleshed Fiends". For now, they stay concealed, but I can at least share another teaser.

It's Broden's test run of Professor Tarr, a significant character in the Airship 27 Productions sequel. I consider Tarr one of my most fascinating figures. He'll sure give Michael Mansford, the Persona, a run for his mystical money.

The esoteric Tarr exhibits a dash of Beethoven and Tarzan in his looks. Yeah, that trace of Johnny Weissmuller isn't coincidental, though this cat is no jungle inhabitant, let alone a great musical composer. He's more a super-mentalist maestro with powers that twist reality's confines. (Pardon the humble appraisal--ha, ha.)

In addition, "Green-Fleshed Fiends" offers other characters to delight Persona fans, including sweet Stacey Standish, who just so happens to mirror a certain screen siren.

Indeed, things continue to progress in a most positive way.  (Oh, btw, Airship 27 publisher Ron Fortier has confirmed that Chris Rawding's Vol 2 cover is nearing completion. Hot diggity!)

Ron Fortier's Where Love Takes You: A Play of Love and Devotion

Most folks associate Ron Fortier with action/adventure tales and gutsy characters like Captain Hazzard, Lady Action, and the chilling Brother Bones. However, Fortier has a nostalgic side beyond pulp heroics, as he demonstrates in his delightful, three-act play, "Where Loves Takes You," published by Airship 27 Productions.

The play centers on Fortier's parents, George and Gaby, and in spite of their age difference, they fall in love just prior to George's entrance into WWII. What develops is a sentimental story, where Gaby's Penelope-like devotion savors every letter that George writes during his battle-wrought days and a sense of duty and patriotism encompasses even those back home.

The story is introduced/narrated by Fortier and his wife, Valerie, who would be played by performers other than themselves for any given production. They grant the story amiable warmth, giving the tale an "Our Town" feel. In between, we experience not only romance, but kindness, fear, triumph and comedy. (One of my favorite moments is when George is invited to dinner by a particular Hollywood icon, and with George resembling Ray Milland...well, let's just say a most humorous moment is recounted.)

I recommend "Where Love Takes You" to those who enjoy classic movies and tune in to TCM whenever the chance arrives. The play, in fact, plays much like a movie in one's mind, stirring the flavor of such bittersweet, wartime favorites as "Best Years of Our Lives" and "I'll Be Seeing You", with a contagious Frank Capra charm throughout.

If you need an escape from the harshness of current-day concerns, order a copy of "Where Love Takes You". You'll be swept away to a time that was certainly harrowing, but full of love and euphoric surprise. And for those itching to put on a play (whether for a high school, college or community theater), this is definitely one to consider: a guaranteed, applause-rousing success for those willing to invest the time and dedication.

HYDE SEED UPDATE: RON FORTIER'S AIRSHIP 27 TO THE RESCUE!!!

There's been a change in plans, folks: that is, a change in publishers for one of my stories.

My novella, "The Hyde Seed", was scheduled for print by Caliburn Press, but due to unexpected circumstances (i.e., a series of mishaps, which perhaps I'll detail in the future), Ron Fortier of Airship 27 Productions (publisher of my novel, "Enter--The Persona!") has taken over the title, slating it for a potential 2017 release. (Ash Arceneaux's spectacular artwork, seen above, will still grace the cover, I'm ecstatic to report.)

"The Hyde Seed" depicts the uncanny journey of a woeful welterweight named Pepe Rodriguez, who must come to terms with his most merciless opponent--himself!

My Robert Louis Stevenson tribute contains plot elements inspired by "The Twilight Zone", "Night Gallery" and "The Outer Limits": an offbeat character study, therefore, in heart and soul.

I'll keep you posted on developments as they come forth; and I thank Captain Ron from the bottom of my heart for his courageous intervention.

PERSONA AND BROTHER BONES--AIRSHIP TOP SELLERS!!!

My novel, ENTER—THE PERSONA (PERSONA, Vol 1), is a #1 paperback seller for Airship 27 Productions, with the spoken-word edition of Ron Fortier’s BROTHER BONES: UNDEAD AVENGER (performed by the versatile L. Scott Bennett) its #1 audio seller.

Per Airship 27’s Captain Ron: "Third quarter sales for Airship 27 Productions are in. Our best-selling book was The Persona by Michael Housel, which comes as no surprise. Michael has been really promoting this all over the net, and our best audio book with Radio Archives was Brother Bones the Undead Avenger as read by Scott Bennett, and one has to believe the buzz on the upcoming movie helped this along."

Collectible Time #66: Brother Bones/Rob Davis Teaser Movie Poster

Coming soon from Franklin-Husser Entertainment LLC, "Brother Bones: The Movie"...and here's Rob Davis' teaser poster to commemorate it!!! I recently obtained a print from Davis, and boy, am I ever pleased that this 11" x 17" masterpiece is now part of my pulp-hero/superhero collection. Just look at that dynamic set-up, the striking color and atmospheric flair!!!

For those of you who are (for whatever inexplicable reason) unfamiliar with Brother Bones, he's the creation of Airship 27 Productions' founder, Ron Fortier. The character's early adventures are detailed in Fortier's sterling anthology, "Brother Bones: the Undead Avenger". Bones was a criminal once known as Tommy Bonello, until he became transformed by fate into a skull-masked crusader, who's gruff, tough and darn easy to admire.

Fortier's founding anthology and Roman Leary's novel, "Six Days of the Dragon", are excellent ways to introduce yourself to Cape Noire's brooding avenger. In these tales, you'll find supernatural intrigue, some science-fiction and loads of quirky characters to rival even those of exalted Batman and Flash fame.

Also, J. Scott Bennett, the brilliant voice performer (see "Jake Bible's Fighting Iron": May '16), offers dramatic readings of both publications (available through Amazon.com Audible), where his earthy, varied vocalizations grant the tales yet another rich layer. Listening to Bennett is, in fact, akin to listening to old-time radio classics: a perfect medium for a dynamic figure such as Brother Bones.

Anyway, I'm sure glad I latched onto the burgeoning Brother Bones craze. You'd be wise to latch on, too!!!
