SILVER SKIN: AH, HERE WE GO AGAIN

Ah, here we go again with another know-it-all denouncement. Alas, an uptown snob has accused me of ripping off 28 Years Later. He claims that a portion of my novel, The Persona: Silver Skin, steals from Dr. Kelson's majestic bone temple, since my story features antagonists who devour their victims and then pile their bones about a desolate village.  

I wrote Silver Skin more than a year before 28 Years Later hit theaters. My story's bone "sculptures" don't hold the same significance as Kelson's. Mine are more incidental (mere remnants) than not. 

Something along these lines happened decades ago, when Don Coscarelli was accused of ripping off George Lucas' Jawas for the Tall Man's dwarfs. Coscarelli explained that he had envisioned his "little, brown and low to the ground," Phantasm creatures well before Star Wars was even a thing, and of course, his dwarfs hold quite a different designation than the Jawas. Still, the silly comparison stuck for a substantial spell among the haughty hardheaded. 

There's nothing that I can say to change my accuser's myopic mind, so why even try? I've only chosen to document the matter for historic record and in that sad event that other pantomaths may feel so compelled to promote the ludicrous notion.

THE PURPLE SCAR RETURNS: AIRSHIP'S VOL #5 (COMING SOON)

My novella, Fossil of Fear, will be featured in Airship 27's The Purple Scar, Vol 5. It will be teamed with a novella by Gene Moyers, with interior artwork by Aiden Belcher, who illustrated my novel, The Persona, Vol 3: Silver Skin.

Knowing that The Purple Scar, Vol 5 is in the pipeline pleases me to no end. Further information on its progression will be shared in the near future. 

MICHAEL HOUSEL'S THE PERSONA TRILOGY + ONE

The most recent, illustrated volume hit the market in December and is entitled Silver Skin. The adventure depicts Michael Mansford and Stacey Standish crashlanding in the Amazon Rainforest, only to face a silver-skinned extraterrestrial who wishes to alter Earth's landscapes.  

The second novel in the series is entitled Green-Fleshed Fiends and details Mansford's encounter with a Third Reich force that manifests diminutive "conquistadors" who propose a massive, dimensional threat, despite their unassuming size. 

The initial novel is entitled Enter--the Persona! and reveals how Mansford obtained a shape-shifting/identity-reflecting mask from St. Peter to combat an unruly, political demon called the Great Beguiler. 

(A bonus, short story, "Dark Waves," is featured in Silver Skin and connects all three tales via mystical, time travel.)

MICHAEL HOUSEL'S THE PERSONA, VOL 3: SILVER SKIN, NOW AVAILABLE

My Airship 27, New Pulp novel, The Persona, Vol 3: Silver Skin, has arrived and is far more a science-fiction sequel than those prior. The story also holds its share of horror, inspired by Italian, cannibal movies, continuing the series' flair for scares.

For Silver Skin, the identity-absorbing Persona, aka Mike Mansford, discovers that an alien world has infiltrated Earth in the Amazon. The strange invasion is conducted by an insane, silver-skinned entity named Sentinel Sifer (perhaps the favorite of all my villains).  

Aiden Belcher has fashioned the interior illustrations. Michael Youngblood has rendered the Creature from the Black Lagoon-inspired cover, with Rob Davis having formatted the jungle-based, back cover. The combination creates a pleasing, pulpy aesthetic.

I do hope folks will latch on to this one. It is, in my estimation, an honorable extension to my saga.

FYI: Persona #3 also contains a bonus story entitled "Dark Waves," which picks up where Green-Fleshed Fiends left off, thus tying up loose ends for Mansford's mythology, as well as confirming the saga's alternate-reality relegation.

THE PERSONA #3: SILVER SKIN PROGRESSING WITH ARTIST, AIDEN BELCHER

Per Airship 27 publisher, Ron Fortier, progression on my novel, The Persona, Vol 3: "Silver Skin," is moving along with Aiden Belcher supplying the illustrations. All but two illustrations are now completed. (BTW: Below are examples of Aiden's work for Jade Rockwood's The World of Albumtasia, and below that is a neo Green Hornet/Kato panel for an online comic that he created with his famous dad, Mike. Pretty impressive, eh?)

"Silver Skin" is more of a science-fiction submission than a mystical one for my character, Michael Mansford. In this instance, an alien world infiltrates Earth through the Amazon rain forest, as orchestrated by an insane, silver-skinned entity named Sentinel Sifer.
