AIRSHIP 27 PODCAST (JUNE '26): A NEW PULP FLIGHT

Ron Fortier and Rob Davis have taken to Airship 27's symbolic sky once again, with an exciting, June podcast.

Airship 27's (April 2026) Podcast glides high, with Ron Fortier and Rob Davis presenting its past six, New Pulp releases for its big "clean up" year.

SILVERLINE'S BEYOND THE STARS #4: AN INNER WORLD OPENS

Silverline's Beyond the Stars #4 is in intergalactic flight, thanks to writer Ron Fortier, artist Andrea Bormida and letterer Mike W. Belcher. To sweeten this chapter's advent, it arrives in a trio of collectible, variant covers by the dynamic roster of Rob Davis, Thomas Floriante, Mickey Clausen, Barb Kaalberg and Jose Fuentes. 

In the previous, Beyond the Stars installments, readers were introduced to a group of resourceful, space warriors, dispatched to stop a mysterious anomaly that consumes all in its path. To quell the cosmic consumption, the warriors must locate the lost, Er-Keety colony. The Er-Keety (as foreseen by the great mystic, Modena Elkea) can set all things right, but establishing the essential encounter will prove an arduous venture. 

For Issue #4, "The Tentacles of Doom!," we meet the intrepid Commander Haniel Smada, who encounters the dreaded, "black cloud," while the courageous N'Atelle forms a symbiotic link with the cyborg ship, Gnik-tu, to penetrate an idyllic, inner realm that holds the first in a series of essential, vessel batteries.   

Fortier's pacing prompts pure excitement, as does Bormida's sweeping artwork. Also, what's impressive about Beyond the Stars is how it references favorable, space operas of the past, featuring characters and scenarios that are bold yet consistently human-based. The result is satisfying on every level and enough to get one hungry for the next installment. (For the record, two more issues are in development.) 

Beyond the Stars #4's prime release is to be announced, but the wait will only make its emergence all the more special. For certain, Bizarrechats will share updates as soon as they're available.

FORTIER & DAVIS' THE BOSTON BOMBERS #2: THE ALTERNATE-HISTORY SAGA CONTINUES

 

Writer Ron Fortier and artist Rob Davis continue their inventive, Boston Bombers saga in Issue #2, from Redbud Studio. 

This release is, in fact, a revival of a popular title that Fortier conceived many years ago, of which the late Harlan Ellison was a fan. The adventure depicts a group of female, secret agents for the Catholic Church, working in cahoots with the League of Nations, a world power in Fortier's parallel scheme.   

To add to The Boston Bombers' unique flavor, its foundation depicts Christ having manifested as a female, who's accepted by the Jews as their unequivocal Messiah. In addition, WWII never occurred, and the Roman Empire has continued its governing influence over the centuries. 

For the second, Boston Bombers installment, readers are treated to a magical prelude on the first (alternate) Christmas, and then are flash-forwarded to the Bombers preparing to commemorate the big holiday, as aviatrix Indra Divine is summoned to Boston to visit her mother for a briefing on the recent, New Delphi coup. (This meeting further reveals a startling secret, which was forged with Indra's mother by the discerning Cardinal Mutongo.) Meanwhile, in regal Roman South Africa, the treacherous Senator Rufus Iturius encounters the lethal Pavol Lavoca, who holds information on the "missing" Princess Augusta Kumana and with such, a strong-arming proposal. 

The gripping segments are specialized and contrasting, but together they blend in a manner that's seamless and exciting in the best, Bondian fashion. Fortier's storytelling, in this respect, is as crisp and profound as ever, and Davis' artwork is nothing short of exquisite.
