THE PERSONA #3: BELCHER & YOUNGBLOOD ON BOARD

My alien-oriented, New Pulp novel, The Persona: Silver Skin, the third in the Michael Mansford series, is moving along. 

As reported in July, Aiden Belcher is composing the interior illustrations. (Below is a nifty, Green Hornet/Kato image he fashioned with his father, Mike W.)

It has since been confirmed (by Airship 27 CEO, Ron Fortier) that Michael Youngblood is doing The Persona #3 cover. Youngblood has supplied many fine covers for Airship 27 and even rendered the cover for my novel, Mark Justice's The Dead Sheriff: Purity. 

I'm honored to have such attentiveness given to my work. More details will be shared as they surface. 

THE PERSONA #3: SILVER SKIN PROGRESSING WITH ARTIST, AIDEN BELCHER

Per Airship 27 publisher, Ron Fortier, progression on my novel, The Persona, Vol 3: "Silver Skin," is moving along with Aiden Belcher supplying the illustrations. All but two illustrations are now completed. (BTW: Below are examples of Aiden's work for Jade Rockwood's The World of Albumtasia, and below that is a neo Green Hornet/Kato panel for an online comic that he created with his famous dad, Mike. Pretty impressive, eh?)

"Silver Skin" is more of a science-fiction submission than a mystical one for my character, Michael Mansford. In this instance, an alien world infiltrates Earth through the Amazon rain forest, as orchestrated by an insane, silver-skinned entity named Sentinel Sifer. 

I'll share more on the book's progression as I receive such. For now, hang tight. More details are on the way.

INVADERS FROM MARS '86/STRANGE INVADERS: ALIENS X 2, DOUBLE FEATURE

 

Under NJ's once-drone strewn sky, a twofold invasion is scheduled for April 4 (Friday) at 6 pm at the Home Base Cinema, 1300 Franklin St, Trenton, NJ. It's hosted by local author, Michael Housel, and both productions star the amazing Louise Fletcher. 

The first movie scheduled is Tobe (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre/Lifeforce/Salem's Lot) Hooper's respectful, 1986 remake of William Cameron Menzies' Invaders From Mars, with Fletcher as the traumatizing Mrs. McKeltch, accompanied by Timothy Bottoms, Laraine Newman, Karen Black, James Karen and Hunter Carson, with a cameo from Jimmy Hunt, the original's young protagonist. 

This cult remake will be followed by Michael (Strange Behavior) Laughlin's 1983, sci-fi salute, Strange Invaders, with Fletcher as Mrs. Benjamin, a U.F.O.-agency bureaucrat, along with Kenneth Tobey, Paul Le Mat, Nancy Allen, Diana Scarwid, Michael Lerner, June Lockhart, Fiona Lewis, Wallace Shawn and Lulu Sylbert. 

In addition to Ms. Fletcher starring in the movies, they share a surreal, rural quality, and for those who know the space-invaders flicks of the 1950s, these Reagan-era examples do an excellent job establishing the ideal, Cold War ambiance, which was still prevalent at the time they were made, even if close to closure.   

Housel will grant historical overviews and delightful trivia on each submission, which will be beamed from an impressive, 7' screen, spun from searing Blu-rays. 

The author will also be available to chat and sign copies of his works before and after the double feature.

RAVENWOOD, STEPSON OF MYSTERY #5: AVAILABLE NOW

Airship 27 Productions' Ravenwood, Stepson of Mystery Vol 5 (the 300th title released by the venerable, New Pulp company) is selling well, allowing the occult detective to gain more exposure than ever before.

THE PURPLE SCAR #4: BUCKY MEETS THE PURPLE SCAR

Above is my friend and coworker, Nick "Bucky" Sabato, holding a crisp copy of Airship 27 Productions' The Purple Scar, Vol 4, which contains my story, "Golem Clay". I'm grateful for Nick's purchase and was honored to sign the story for him. 

The Purple Scar is a pulp hero from the 1940s, aka Dr. Miles Murdock, a plastic surgeon who uses the grisly, death mask of his mob-murdered brother to strike fear into evil-doers during nocturnal patrols.

THE PURPLE SCAR #4: A PULP ICON RETURNS

The Purple Scar, Vol 4 enters Airship 27 Productions' prestigious roster, with stories by Gene Moyers ("Seven Swans a' Swimming), Felix Cruz ("The Scar's Close Shave"), Fred Adams Jr ("The Blackmail Heist") and Michael Housel ("Golem Clay").

As pulp enthusiasts know, The Purple Scar is renowned plastic surgeon, Miles Murdock, who for vengeful, extracurricular activity, hunts criminals during the night. To strike fear into those he stalks, Murdock wears a mask molded from his dead brother's acid-torn face (a grisly fate dealt by gangsters). Captain Dan Griffin; "sticky-fingered" valet, Tommy Pedlar; and love-interest nurse, Dale Jordan interact with the intense danger and intrigue that cross the brooding crusader's path.
