AIRSHIP 27 PODCAST (JAN '23): READY FOR LIFTOFF

A new Airship 27 Podcast (Jan '23) ascends and waiting at the nearest cloud, The Purple Scar, Vol 4.

Ron Fortier and Rob Davis give the big-time scoop on this special submission (the first Airship 27 release of the year, no less), which contains tales by Felix Cruz, Fred Adams Jr, Gene Moyers and yours truly. To enhance the contents, this volume features cover artwork by the amazing Adam Shaw, a back-cover design by the adroit Rob Davis and interiors by the stylistic Chuck Bordell. (I'm gosh-darn proud to be part of this collection, which returns one of the greatest, dark crusaders to the eerie limelight.) 

In addition to Purple Scar #4, the guys give an avid rundown of 2022's titles (twenty-two in all!) and spin updates on such on-the-cusp releases as Jonathan Casey's After Sunset western, Phillip Pan's Mark Justice's The Dead Sheriff, Vol 5 and I.A. Watson's modernized Bulldog Drummond, Vol 3. 

Ron and Rob also pay homage to writer Lou Mougin, of Joe Computer, Private Detective fame, who passed away Dec 31. The imaginative Mr. Mougin will be dearly missed by many.

THE PURPLE SCAR #4: A PULP ICON RETURNS

The Purple Scar, Vol 4 enters Airship 27 Productions' prestigious roster, with stories by Gene Moyers ("Seven Swans a' Swimming), Felix Cruz ("The Scar's Close Shave"), Fred Adams Jr ("The Blackmail Heist") and Michael Housel ("Golem Clay").

As pulp enthusiasts know, The Purple Scar is renowned plastic surgeon, Miles Murdock, who for vengeful, extracurricular activity, hunts criminals during the night. To strike fear into those he stalks, Murdock wears a mask molded from his dead brother's acid-torn face (a grisly fate dealt by gangsters). Captain Dan Griffin; "sticky-fingered" valet, Tommy Pedlar; and love-interest nurse, Dale Jordan interact with the intense danger and intrigue that cross the brooding crusader's path. 

To accompany this edition's tales, Vol 4 flaunts a raging, front cover by the amazing Adam Shaw, a chilling, back cover by the seasoned Rob Davis and noir-ish interiors by the nimble Chuck Bordell. 

Airship 27's masterminds, Ron Fortier and Rob Davis, deserve humongous credit for keeping this classic, pulp character thriving, and like Airship 27's prior, Purple Scar editions, Vol 4 hits it out of the park with hair-raising tension.
