THE HYDE SEED: STILL SELLING

It's neat how a favorable spurt can strike with an "old" publication. That's what happened with my Airship 27 novella, The Hyde Seed.

Several folks at my gym purchased copies and asked me to sign them. I was honored to oblige.

The Hyde Seed is the tale of Pepe Rodriguez, a boxer who's life has taken a heartbreaking turn. He fights his doppelganger, which rises from his mind as a terrible, plant-like entity that grows more human over time (mirroring Pepe's semblance, that is).

The Hyde Seed features a potent cover by Ash Arceneaux and on-target interiors by Pedro Cruz. It's an inexpensive book (coming in at 80 pages) and would make a swell gift, if not an apt stocking stuffer (for those inclined to shop early).

Follow the lead of my gymmates and purchase a copy. While you're at it, treat yourself to Scott Glennon's awesome, audio reading, where he emotes my words with utmost conviction:

PULPY GIFT SUGGESTIONS: THE PERSONA VOLS 1 & 2; THE HYDE SEED

"The Persona: Green-Fleshed Fiends" is Airship 27's biggest seller for its third quarter, but that doesn't mean it's earned all it can.

With the holiday season approaching, what better way to enchant one's friends and family than with copies of my energetic endeavor? While one is at it, how about giving folks the first book, "Enter--the Persona!", as well?

Both volumes can be purchased with ease at
https://www.amazon.com/Persona-Green-Fleshed-Fiends-Michael-Housel/dp/1946183644/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=green-fleshed+fiends&qid=1573256676&sr=8-1; and

https://www.amazon.com/Persona-Michael-Housel-ebook/dp/B01IQFU35C/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=enter--the+persona&qid=1573256711&sr=8-1.

In addition, copies of my Airship 27 novella, "The Hyde Seed" are still available and would make sweet stocking stuffers:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=the+hyde+seed&ref=nb_sb_noss_2.

I'm also willing to autograph copies, but for that, one will need to contact me via this blog. Now, don't be shy. Drop me a line. I'll be more than honored to oblige.

MICHAEL F. HOUSEL/AIRSHIP 27 TALES FOR SUMMER READING (AND LISTENING)

On occasion, acquaintances will ask me for summer-reading suggestions. I'm pleased to offer the standards: classics from decades and centuries past, which are always worth a look or revisit. However, if I may be so bold to blow my own, self-promotin' horn...

I penned a couple Airship 27 Production titles, available in paperback and audio form, which might help one weather the heat:

My novella, "The Hyde Seed" presents the struggle of former boxer, Pepe Rodriguez, who comes to battle an opponent unlike any other he's faced--his monstrous self. It's my pugilist tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson's famous tale of duality, with a "Twilight Zone" twist.

The book sports a dandy Ash Arceneaux cover and captivating illustrations by Pedro Cruz . And for those fancying an audio take, my yarn is performed by the expressive Scott Glennon, courtesy of Radio Archives.

Then there's my pulp-hero novel, "Enter--the Persona!" (aka, "The Persona, Vol 1"), which details affluent Michael Mansford's ethereal transformation into a pearly-masked crusader of the '30s.

The novel features a striking Shannon Hall cover and crisp Art Cooper illustrations, with the Radio Archives audio edition performed by veteran voice actor, Mark Barnard.

A sequel to "Enter--the Persona!", entitled "Enter the Green-fleshed Fiends", is set for eventual release by Airship 27, so here's your chance to get a jump on my expanding, New Pulp saga, and what better time than the heart of summer, eh? (BTW: "Enter--the Persona!" is a genuine, warm-weather tale, which makes its recommendation all the more appropriate.)

Print and audio versions of "Hyde Seed" and "Enter--the Persona!" are available through Amazon; Barnes and Noble offers only the print editions. I also have a few paperbacks at my fingertips, which I'd be happy to autograph. If interested, drop me a line.)

In addition, feel free to visit Airship 27's online catalog at ... http://robmdavis.com/Airship27Hangar/index.airshipHangar.html, where many New Pulp titles can be purchased per PDF.

RADIO ARCHIVES/AIRSHIP 27 PRESENTS SCOTT GLENNON'S READING OF MICHAEL F. HOUSEL'S THE HYDE SEED

It's here, folks (drum roll, please)...from Radio Archives...actor Scott Glennon's dramatic reading/performance of my Airship 27 Productions novella..."The Hyde Seed"!!!

In case you've not yet read "Hyde Seed", the story details the emotional fall of a boxer, Pepe Rodriguez, and his big bout with an inner demon: a strange, weed-like formation that grows through reveries and craves an existence beyond its host. Will the old pugilist defeat his Hyde or succumb to his counterpart's insidious ambitions?

Glennon gives my tale a crisp, combative edge, which immediately draws one into the woeful action. As "Hyde Seed'"s author, I'm more than pleased with the results.

You can purchase the audio version of "Hyde Seed" (as well as the paperback and Kindle editions) at ... https://www.amazon.com/Hyde-Seed-Michael-F-Housel/dp/1946183105/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1505519781&sr=1-1&keywords=the+hyde+seed

God bless and thanks for your support!

RADIO ARCHIVES SELECTS SCOTT GLENNON TO PERFORM THE HYDE SEED!!!

Scott Glennon, experienced actor/narrator, has been selected by Radio Archives to perform my Airship 27 novella, "The Hyde Seed".

For the record, Glennon has vocalized such books as Isaac Stone's "Marine Defenders", Mort Castle's "The Deadly Election" and David O. Strickland's "First Man Off the Plane."

Glennon's tone is crisp and hard-hitting. I believe he'll do a splendid job on "Hyde Seed".

Will keep you posted on developments, but from what Glennon has told me, the dramatic reading should be completed by month's end. Yippee!!!

MICHAEL F. HOUSEL BOOKS: SIGNED/REASONABLY PRICED

As Red Buttons once proclaimed, strange things are happening.

Two Amazon “sellers” recently listed my novel, “Flask of Eyes", for (hold onto your seat) $189.75 and $203.56!!! Come now, really? Even as "Flask" becomes allegedly scarcer, along with other Caliburn Press titles by other authors (thanks to the publisher's questionable tactics), who’d dare pay these outrageous sums? (Some of us have suspicions as to the cause behind the ghastly pricing, but wish to look further into the matter before drawing a conclusion.)

Listen, folks, I still have copies of "Flask", if you’re interested. I’ll autograph 'em--heck, even personalize 'em for you--and right now the cost will be a mere $10 per copy. Not bad, eh?

I also have copies of my Airship 27 Production titles, “Enter—the Persona!” and “The Hyde Seed”, for those who have a hankering. (I do try to replenish my supplies whenever my stash slips.) I’m selling "Persona" for $10 and "Hyde Seed" for $8: each signed and/or personalized. (The titles are also available for reasonable prices through Airship 27 and other reputable sources, which do, in fact, list on Amazon.)

To purchase copies directly from me, or if you have any questions/concerns about the above, please touch base through bizarrechats (leave a message below) or at mikehousel@hotmail.com.

Don't be fooled by such bizarre pricing. No respectable seller and/or publisher would be so crass to ask for that kind of cash for any current, mass-produced, small-press title—period.

MICHAEL F. HOUSEL SIGNED COPIES!!!

Hello to all my friends and fans in the Trenton/Hamilton Twp, New Jersey area…

Alas, I have no signings scheduled at this time, but per your requests, I can certainly accommodate those of you seeking signed copies of my books. I realize a significant number of you have age/health obstacles, which would prevent you from so easily obtaining copies, but I can tend to the orders and signatures per your requests. Currently, I do still have several copies of “The Hyde Seed”; “Enter—the Persona!”; and even a smattering of “Flask of Eyes” for those interested.

Most of you have my email address/phone number (or Donna's), but if not, please post a message below, and I'll make arrangements accordingly. As long as you’re within my area of residence, I should be able to accommodate you.

Additionally, the audio presentation of “Enter—the Persona!”, performed by actor Mark Barnard, should surface soon from Radio Archives. I’ll update my blog with further information as it arrives.

Take care and as always, thanks for your support!!!

HYDE SEED/AIRSHIP 27 PRESS RELEASE AND READER REVIEW!!!

Wanted to share Ron Fortier's Airship 27 Productions Press release of my novella, "The Hyde Seed". Captain Ron is doing a swell job promoting it, and here's the proof--http://airship27.blogspot.com/.

Also, for the sake of enticement, I thought I'd offer the novella's initial Amazon review:

"THE HYDE SEED reminds me of something that might have appeared on TWILIGHT ZONE or maybe TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE. It's about a down-and-out boxer named Pepe Rodriguez, who has this strange force spew from his brain after getting walloped in the ring. The thing doesn't dominate him, though, until years later when he's working as a janitor and a group of bullies cause his Hyde side to reawaken. That's when the real trouble starts.

The novel is rather sad, as most underdog stories are. I really felt for this poor guy and wanted him to win out. Parts of the story deal with unrequited love, the loss of Rodriguez's mother and his need to impress his hardheaded father.

The book is also pretty creepy in the way the Hyde character is portrayed. The monster is described as a plant-like thing, with its garden being the protagonist's brain. The early scenes featuring the monster are presented in dreams, but as the story moves along, the invisible Hyde starts to exist outside its host. Yeah, weird stuff, but also pretty much familiar Jekyll/Hyde territory.

I recommend THE HYDE SEED for the fact that it's a throwback to an old-anthology way of storytelling and combines tension with tenderness to get its point across. For the price, you can't go wrong. It's also a real fast read. Probably would make a decent movie." - horrorfan

I do believe the above is an encouraging endorsement, so please give "Hyde Seed" a try. You can order your paperback edition at...https://www.amazon.com/dp/1946183105/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487897379&sr=8-1&keywords=the+hyde+seed.

You can also order from Barnes and Noble at... http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-hyde-seed-michael-f-housel/1125933813?ean=9781946183101.

Thanks very much for your support, my friends, and I hope you enjoy my story!!!

MICHAEL F. HOUSEL'S THE HYDE SEED...NOW AVAILABLE FROM AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS!!!

"The Hyde Seed" has arrived from Airship 27 Productions!!!

I wrote "Hyde Seed" in honor of those offbeat character studies found in "Twilight Zone", "Night Gallery" and "Outer Limits".

My story focuses on former welterweight, Pepe Rodriguez, a champion-that-could-have-been, who let his chance for glory slip with the loss of love. Pepe now works as a lonesome custodian for Averton Plastics and appears an unassuming enough gent, but he harbors a secret...a demon...a creature...a weed-like Hyde that springs from out his mind. Though Pepe has kept this thing contained for more than a decade, it re-emerges when he's attacked by company thugs. Now the resentful entity plans to do as it pleases, unless the former contender can conjure the confidence to defeat it once and for all.

"Hyde Seed'"s unsettling cover was rendered by Ash Arceneaux.  Pedro Cruz, of "The Amazing Harry Houdini" fame, supplied the story's interior illustrations, and Airship 27's Art Director, Rob Davis, devised its moody back cover.

I give my eternal thanks to publisher Ron Fortier for making "Hyde Seed" part of the Airship 27/New Pulp lineup.

The paperback edition of "Hyde Seed'"s is currently available through Amazon at... https://www.amazon.com/dp/1946183105/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487888487&sr=8-1&keywords=hyde+seed.   (The Kindle version should be available in the near future.)

HYDE SEED: JANUARY 2017 UPDATE

Well, folks, progress on my novella, "The Hyde Seed" (the story of anguished boxer, Pepe Rodriguez), continues, thanks to Ron Fortier and Airship 27 Productions.

Per the December/January Airship Newsletters, "Hyde Seed" is officially in the "flight line" of upcoming releases.

Also, acclaimed illustrator/artist, Pedro Cruz, has been assigned to complete four, interior illustrations for my Jekyll/Hyde modernization. As you may know, Cruz supplied the illustrations for Airship's "Amazing Harry Houdini" and "Towers of Metropolis." Below is an example of Cruz's splendid work.

(Ash Arceneaux, mentioned in previous "Hyde Seed" posts, is responsible for the chilling cover.)

Anyway, I'm pleased that "Hyde Seed" has entered this significant stretch. I'll supply additional details soon and perhaps even reference those stories, in addition to Robert Louis Stevenson's, which have influenced my weird, psychological tale...

HYDE SEED UPDATE: RON FORTIER'S AIRSHIP 27 TO THE RESCUE!!!

There's been a change in plans, folks: that is, a change in publishers for one of my stories.

My novella, "The Hyde Seed", was scheduled for print by Caliburn Press, but due to unexpected circumstances (i.e., a series of mishaps, which perhaps I'll detail in the future), Ron Fortier of Airship 27 Productions (publisher of my novel, "Enter--The Persona!") has taken over the title, slating it for a potential 2017 release. (Ash Arceneaux's spectacular artwork, seen above, will still grace the cover, I'm ecstatic to report.)

"The Hyde Seed" depicts the uncanny journey of a woeful welterweight named Pepe Rodriguez, who must come to terms with his most merciless opponent--himself!

My Robert Louis Stevenson tribute contains plot elements inspired by "The Twilight Zone", "Night Gallery" and "The Outer Limits": an offbeat character study, therefore, in heart and soul.

I'll keep you posted on developments as they come forth; and I thank Captain Ron from the bottom of my heart for his courageous intervention.

THE HYDE SEED--COVER SNEAK PEEK!!!

Here it is folks: from the imaginative mind of Ash Arceneaux...the cover for my upcoming Caliburn Press novella...THE HYDE SEED!!! (As you may recall, Arceneaux created the creepy cover for my monster-rally tale, FLASK OF EYES.)

Arceneaux's imagery for THE HYDE SEED represents my lead character well: a rising welterweight called Pepe Rodriguez, who throws it all away in the name of unrequited love...well, more or less. Pepe, like most of us, struggles with an inner demon: a spawn of heartbreak and self-doubt, which in his case, springs from out his battered brain to establish its own insidious existence.

Can Rodriguez defeat the horrid thing he's sown? Only time will tell, but until my Robert Louis Stevenson tribute reaches print, I trust Arceneaux's wicked artwork will more than than fill the gap.

New Novella Announcement--The Hyde Seed Cometh!!!

Have another story set for publication through Damnation Books, entitled "The Hyde Seed"!!! Since I don't have any images to reflect my particular characters at this point, I thought I'd let the Oscar-winning duality of good ol' of Frederic March stand in lieu for now. More details ultimately to follow...
