Indy Comics' The Crimson Nun, is an action-adventure gift from writer Ron Fortier, inspired by Benn Dunn's Warrior Nun, as well as the legendary Joan of Arc. Issue #2, "Rebellion," carries the titular character's exploits to even higher, pious heights, featuring breathtaking artwork by Jesse Thomas, stylish lettering by Mike Belcher and a captivating cover by Jonathan Mcdaniel.
In the prior installment, the original Crimson Nun, Alicia Smith, was crucified by the Black Cardinal and Nazi agent, Dietrich. However, the next-generation Crimson Nun, Gabrielle Cauxvette, saved the day, thanks to her enlightened prowess.
For this latest release, Fortier, Thomas and Belcher place Cauxvette in a gripping flashback, where she tells the recuperating Smith and visiting Father Odeysseus how the spirit of Joan of Arc enlisted her to fight evil. She also reveals how she traveled to Rome for further, spiritual ascension, only to come upon a frightful assault.
The combination of crisp storytelling and magnificent artwork designates The Crimson Nun #2 as a great sequel, with more installments yet in come via Kickstarter.
Be on the lookout for updates on this superb saga. The Crimson Nun is far too great a blessing to miss!
