After attending several social events to usher in the new year, I've been bombarded with repeat questions on my writing history, but far more so, my favorite things. Someone suggested that I attribute answers to the most recycled questions for my blog, and so (more out of fun than anything else), here I go:
Did I write fiction when I was a child? Yes. I wrote/constructed illustrated booklets while in the fifth grade. Among these were adaptations of The Gorgon and King Kong vs Godzilla. My classmates dug them.
My favorite movie - Psycho (1960), with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) a close second
My favorite, television series - The Twilight Zone (original, Rod Serling run)
My favorite, spiritually uplifting movies (with a TZ slant) - It's a Wonderful Life & Field of Dreams (a respectable tie)
My favorite franchise - Planet of the Apes
My favorite, space-exploration series - Star Trek (the original series)
My favorite, film composer - Jerry Goldsmith
My favorite singer (for the longest haul) - Elvis Presley
My favorite, radio show/episode: The Mercery Theatre on the Air: The War of the Worlds
My favorite, novel/anthology - Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles
My favorite, animated feature - Fire and Ice
My favorite, film trilogy - A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
My favorite, Rambo movie - Rambo: Last Blood
My favorite, Ray Harryhausen movie - Jason and the Argonauts
My favorite, DC superhero - Batman
My favorite sidekick-crusader - Robin (Dick Grayson)
My favorite, Marvel superhero - The Hulk
My favorite, classic monster/creature - The Frankenstein Monster
(On a related note), My favorite giant/kaiju specimen - King Kong (any version, though I lean toward the 1933, Willis O'Brien benchmark)
My favorite, masked maniac - Leatherface
My favorite, dystopic villain/antagonist - Alex (the Large) DeLarge
Well, there you have it. Hope it helps for those who care enough to care. Say, maybe I'll do a sequel list someday. What do you think?😁
