THE MYTH OF TRUTH AND REALITY: THE HOPES AND DOUBTS OF ADARKAH IANQU

The need to believe in something greater than we are, in spite of life's persistent doom and gloom, is captured in Adarkah Ianqu's eclectic, electronic submission: The Myth of Truth and Reality. It may not be his newest entry, but I'm sure glad to have discovered its hopeful yet questioning content. (Indeed, better late than never.)

The presentation is divided into four parts, commencing with "muribund shaman (a second thought)", which crackles from out the fires of an ancient world, its mystical and wistful notes entrancing, even if they dance with caution.

The second track, "the sun as if nicotine (fear of the fire)", extrapolates this concept, touching upon the danger and allure of the most basic warmths, all through a queued and chaotic yin and yang.

"The children of Cane (the law was broken)" delves into the consequences of sin, of toppling one's brother, of letting jealousy and contempt override what's right. The composition's construction is fierce, steady and sparked by angry regret.

The final track, "ark's replica (clubmachine)" is a pensive afterthought, detailing the hopes and dreams found in ritualistic prayer. It screams for virtuous replication, but beneath its blazing surface, that ol' cold soberness still slashes. Ah, such is life.

Ianqu's chapters will pull one in and keep one nervous yet settled: each an epic in its own ambivalent fashion, but all connected with a profound stress that only Ianqu can dare display.
