GOODBYE, BILLIE HAYES...

As Witchiepoo, you brightened my childhood to the hilt in Sid and Marty Krofft's H.R. Pufnstuf (in both the series and theatrical version), a role you rekindled on the Banana Splits Adventure Hour and the Paul Lynde Halloween Special (right alongide the witchy Margaret Hamilton).

You were also great as Weenie the Genie on Krofft's Lidsville and as Li'l Abner's Mammy Yokum, as well as in your notable, guest-starring roles for Bewitched and the Monkees.

However, you were most prolific in the voice department, lending your distinct emoting to such productions as the Batman; Teen Titans; Teen Titans Go!; Duckman; Darkwing Duck; W.I.T.C.H.; the Transformers; Transformers: Rescue Bots; Rugrats; Tale Spin; Bonkers; Johnny Bravo; the Brothers Flub; Bubble Guppies; the Further Adventures of Super Ted; the Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald; the Nightmare Before Christmas; Shrek Forever After; and Disney's the Black Cauldron.

On a behind-the-scenes note, you founded Pet Hope, one of the best charities imaginable, which has helped hundreds of abandoned pets find homes since 1984.

You were a wonderful person, performer and an icon for the ages. God bless you, Ms. Hayes. Your contributions will live on and touch anyone who has the pleasure to engage them.

Collectible Time: Warren Montgomery Psycho Print

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is one of my all-time favorite movies, and Anthony Perkins one of my all-time favorite actors. As good fortunate would have it, one of my all-time favorite artists, Warren Montgomery, has paid tribute to them both.

Montgomery's 11" x 17" print is a demented dandy, as it features Perkins' troubled Norman Bates (Prime Prince of Mamma's Boys) looming over his Hopper-esque house, with the movie's title and cast featured along the bottom, making this a grand, alternate, theatrical poster for the classic thriller. (Too bad this fine work of art wasn't commissioned as an official emblem for Psycho's Oct '20 TCM/Fandango, theatrical re-release.)

Montgomery has chilled my macabre fancy to the bone with his haunting homage, and he will no doubt do the same for you if you purchase a copy of his masterful salute. (It's sure to make a great Mother's Day gift, tee hee.) Order Montgomery's Psycho print (or any of his wondrous products) at

SCARY MONSTERS #121: A MUMMY MEMORIAL

It's Mummy time with Scary Monsters #121, which spans material from Universal to Hammer and beyond. Scott Jackson's mummified front-and-back-cover artwork sure sets the disinterred pace.

In addition to Karl Freund/Boris Karloff's Imhotep landmark, the Mummy ('32), #121 covers Tom Tyler, Lon Chaney Jr and Christopher Lee's tongue-less Kharis. Plus eerie emphasis falls on the Hammer "sequels", Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, Blood from the Mummy's Tomb and the Mummy's Shroud.

And that's not all. Among the fruitful bandaging one will find articles on Popoca, the Aztec Mummy; the tragic, Guanajuato Mummies; the legend of King Tut's Tomb; Assignment: Terror; mad scientists; Lon Chaney Sr; Jack Pierce; cinematic reincarnation and curses; the "Kaiju Korner"; coffin-escape devices; "Familiar Faces of Fright Films"; and new insights into Carnival of Souls.
