In that my Snake Plissken story, "Snake Against the Vampires: Escape from Pueblo De Sangre," had a positive reaction from Eighth Tower Magazine subscribers, CEO Raffaele Pezzella asked me to compose another. Due to my many assignments and their tight deadlines, the story's progression was often impaired, but I'm now pleased as Punch that it's finished.
It's called "Snake vs Snake: Escape From Carny Land," which occurs in toxic-scarred Arizona, at an amusement park that's been turned into a low-rent, scientific, research facility. Mutant reptiles roam the landscape, along with humans who've adapted reptilian traits, including Snake's rival, the anguished Idris Coulson.
Idris is a big brawler, along the lines of Ox Baker's Slag from Escape From New York. He's also reminiscent of Robert Clarke's Gilbert McKenna from The Hideous Sun Demon, Dirk Benedict's David Blake from Sssssss and Gotham City's Waylon Jones, better known as Killer Croc.
To raise the peril, the tale includes wayward children (in the vein of Star Trek's "Miri," Battlestar Galactica's "The Young Lords" and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome), who are led into a mobster melee by the maddened Idris.
"Escape from Carny Land" is slated for an around-the-bend release. More details to follow ...
