For my birthday, my friend, Leslie Foster, sent me a surprise package, and what should I find inside? Ah, none other than a Funko Pop! (Television) Twilight Zone Gremlin, based on Richard Matheson's eternal fable, "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet," as directed by the prolific Richard (Superman/The Omen/Ladyhawke) Donner.
This little guy is sure frightful in his cuteness, capturing Grante Keate's costume/makeup design (to some degree, a modified, Time Machine Morlock, according to speculation), enacted in the episode by the nimble Nick Cravat.
As soon as I opened the box and gazed upon this fuzzy, vinyl fellow, I felt the same, startling chill that Bill Shatner's Robert Wilson no doubt felt when he spotted the mischievous demon on that airplane's wing.
I love The Twilight Zone and Matheson's iconic tale so much. Thank you, Leslie, my dear, congenial compatriot, for acknowledging this, and adding yet another nostalgic novelty to my collection. 😊
