HARLEY QUINN SEASON 5: MAYHEM IN METROPOLIS

It's sure been a long while, but HBO/Max has geared up the animated, Harley Quinn series again, after delaying it from its once assured, November 2024 release.

Season 5 promises to hold even more misguided, Green Initiative venues, though such will occur beyond demolished, Bat-purged Gotham in a Wizard of Oz homage, as filtered through taxed-to-death Metropolis, aka The Big Apricot. Appearances from Superman, Lex Luthor, Lena Luthor and Brainiac are assured, as is at least one from Perry White and Lois Lane. (It would be interesting to see how a traditional Lois, or even an unconventional one, would interact with this universe's versions of Harley and Ivy.)

Beyond the evident, criminal couple, old favorites Clayface, Shark King, Frank the Plant and Bane continue as recurring characters. (I quite enjoy all four, but there's something about Bane's wry lament, as presented via the Tom Hardy intonation, that really hits the satirical spot for me.) Lena Luthor is to manifest, as well, on a regular basis.

It's hard to comment on a string of episodes I haven't seen yet, but I'm looking forward to another irreverent batch and will offer my two cents worth on such after the season concludes.

Harley Quinn: Season 5 commences January 16 and concludes March 20.
