Cinema Insomnia Presents Mr. Lobo Goes To Retro Con is a Blu-ray blast in which our cherished host chats with interesting and dynamic guests at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, in Oaks, Pa.
On the grand agenda are the following: She-Hulk impersonator, Peri Fisher; Reel 7 Girl/Mary Jane Watson impersonator, Amanda Sorrento; Igor (of Igor Presents); Mx Blobfest 2022, Stephanie Vogel; 13th Civil Defense Division: G.I. Joe Cosplay Club; Silk of GDOESCOSPLAYS; Boglins/toy designer Tim Clarke; voice actress Renae Jacobs (of April O'Neil fame); Build It With Style: Tales from the Time Machines from Back to the Future author, Tom Silknitter; Transformers/Ghost Rider writer/artist, Bob Budiansky; "suitmation expert" Brian T. Price; and a Ghostbusters musical tribute by the futuristic Cybertronic Spree band.
In the heart of Mr. Lobo's congenial exchanges, there's the 1984 anime feature, Akira (Ultraman) Tsuburaya's Return of the Dinosaurs, which combines cartoon animation with live-action, puppet effects, creating a wild, pre-Jurassic Park vibe.
For added enjoyment, Mr. Lobo packs in retro fillers on Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, G.I. Joe and old-time video games, while granting viewers a special look at the lavish, backstage catering that's exclusive to Retro Con's headliners. Yum!
