EMERY CLARKE FOR MAIN'S PULP FAN #6

Emery Clarke is one of pulp's greatest artists, and Jim Main has recruited me to share the icon's bio for Pulp Fan #6.

In Clarke's art, the guys are as tough as nails and the dames curvy and brave: the unapologetic epitome of action/adventure dreams, though some of his images tend to rub certain modern pockets the wrong way, thus relegating him to a Mark Twain/Dr. Seuss niche (classic company, in my bold estimation).

Clarke, like other artists of his time, was a Doc Savage contributor, but he also created imagery for The Phantom Detective, a number of wild western periodicals, as well as Liberty and The Saturday Evening Post. He also orchestrated the later years of Russell Stamm's popular comic strip, Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, which costarred the stalwart Sheriff Stainless Steel, who ultimately gained his own celebrated title.

I'm honored to detail Clarke's bodacious body of work for Pulp Fan and will keep readers abreast of all that the next, exciting issue holds. Keep visiting for updates!
