PULP FAN #5: A PAT SAVAGE SALUTE

Main Enterprises' Pulp Fan #5 salutes Patricia "Pat" Savage, Doc's attractive, energetic cousin, and she fills page after page of this stunner of an issue.

Along with publisher Jim Main's welcoming intro, Tim Faroute's fabulous cover sets the pulpy (and sexy) pace, and he also contributes a smokin' interior to the issue, which is buffered by tantalizing Pat tributes from top-drawer artists, Kevin Duncan and John Lambert (who also supplies a dandy inside front-cover). Walter M. Baumhofer's brilliant, back-cover shot caps off the thematic concept to a tee. Ah, such satisfying graphics, and all laid out to perfection by the masterful Robert Sodaro!

To give readers a comprehensive sweep of Pat's history, Will Murray's "Amazon in Bronze" essays how the comely character became a courageous icon in her own spectacular right.

Murray's article is accompanied by Malcolm Deeley's overview of Pat's participation in Marvel's sensational, Savage run; and then there's a handy, Pat story-appearance check-list for those who wish to keep count.

In addition, Pulp Fan #5 contains a retrospective by yours truly on revered pulp artist, Paul Orban, who not only created profound pen-and-inks for the Man of Bronze, but for the Avenger, the Shadow, the Phantom Detective and Fu Manchu, to name but a few.

On the whole, this may be the best Pulp Fan yet, and that's saying a ton, considering how fulfilling the past issues have been.

To order this historic issue, send a check of $9.75 (which includes shipping within the U.S.) or $15.50 (which includes priority shipping in the U.S. with cardboard backing) to Jim Main; 130 Wellsville Av; Back of House; New Milford CT 06776. One can also Paypal Mr. Main at jmain44@aol.com.
