SO LONG, WILLIAM SMITH...

You chilled me to the bone as Falconetti in Rich Man, Poor Man (both cinematic books, in fact), and from there, you became one of my favorites: a persona often to hate, but also to love for the gritty grimace you invested into each of your roles.

From the big to small screen, you covered it all to adroit perfection in Grave of the Vampire; Batman '66; Any Which Way You Can; Invasion of the Bee Girls; Darker Than Amber; the Six Million Dollar ManPlanet of the Apes (tv); the Asphalt Jungle (tv); the Dukes of Hazzard (tv); Hawaii 5-0 (the original); Conan the Barbarian '82; the Rockford Files; Rumble Fishthe OutsidersMeet Me in St. Louisthe A-Team; Knight RiderKolchak: the Night Stalkerthe Twilight Zone ('80s); Rasputin: Dark Agent of Destiny; Black Samson; The Thing with Two Heads; Buck Rogers in the 25th Century; Laredo (as a regular); Death Valley DaysGunsmokeFeast; Combat!; Nam's Angels (aka the Losers)Angels Die Hard; Run, Angel, Run!; C.C. and Company; Chrome and Hot Leather; Slow Burn; Maniac Cop; the Ultimate Warrior; the Last Riders; Mail Order Bride; 36 Hours; the Shooter; Kung Fu; Twilight's Last Gleaming; the Song of BernadetteI Dream of Jeanie; L.A. Vice; the Kill Machine; Merchant of Evil; Atlantis, the Lost Continent; American Me; Fever Pitchthe Final Sanction; Jungle Assault; Red Dawn '84; Emperor of the Bronx; the Roller Blade Seven; Chance; Policewoman '74; East L.A. Warriors; the Rebelsthe Deadly Trackers; Broken Vessels; the Mating Gamethe Frisco KidThree Guns for Texas; Going My Way; and the Ghost of Frankenstein. In truth, this queue only scrapes the surface of your staggering career.

You were also a Renaissance Man of the highest order: multilingual; a CIA and NSA agent; Air Force veteran; bodybuilder; weightlifter; champion arm wrestler; and seasoned poet.

May you now muscle your way into Heaven, Mr. Smith, blessing it with the tough-as-nails spirit that only you can deliver.
