A new year begins, and with this re-start, many (if not most) of life's laments linger. A cleansing is required to purge one's pains and misconceptions. Who but Airktoo tha Darkar to deliver it?
I want you to look the truth in the eyes consists of five tracks. It builds in a quiet manner, but births emotional, movie-length features.
"Santificatio" invites the listener to a sweet whispering that preps and soothes, tingling as it moves, drilling into the subconscious to leave a peripheral rap, rap, rapping in its wake.
That rapping rumbles into "tazkiyah al-nafs", inducing a persistence, an irritation...a bubbling breakdown. The track invokes Poe's "Raven", though in this instance, the feathered fiend's taunting has little to do with lost love, but rather pecks away one's dirt: one's cynicism, doubts and prejudices.
From this point, the album turns epic, with "nephesh" being the first of three, colossal showers. The track's sounds create an infinite space, summoning one's aura toward a ritualistic revelation. But where, oh where, the hell can that revelation be? It's only the teasing taps that keep one going, but in that tenacity lies the potential remedy: One must work to get better.
"Nephesh" ends only to ejaculate another elemental giant: "air in motion, breath, wind". This hefty entry represents one's desperate gasp within a swashing sea, where one's brain drowns as it sparkles and shines from each pearly rub until one's third eye opens wide enough to see...
..."the truth is sacred", the final, mountainous sensation! "The truth" fills one with unconditional insight, humming a meditative cognition that only one's most intrinsic core could reveal. The revelation presented is, therefore, personal and inspiring, if not tiring, but by its conclusion, one comes away reborn. "The truth" has set one free. "The truth" has made one whole.
