CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN: KARLOFF/LUGOSI IN THE BLACK CAT

Castle of Frankenstein #40 delivers a devilish, Halloween treat, commemorating the 1934, first-time teaming of Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi in the Art Deco adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Black Cat. (Scott Jackson's cover sure does pay vivid reverence to the movie's sinister stars; would you not agree?)

Issue #40 also offers insightful words on author Richard Matheson, covering his work on The Twilight Zone, his big breakthrough, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and his superb, Poe adaptations for Roger Corman and AIP.

To strengthen the fantastic queue, there are articles on the frightful and figurative From; the 1950s, horror rebirth; sexy, cave chicks; premature burials and weird deaths; diligent, grave robbing; and a detailed speculation on Henry Frankenstein's fate (after Bride of ...), embellished by in-depth, movie reviews; cracklin', monster cartoonery; and that ol' feisty standby, the Slaymate of the Month.

Castle of Frankenstein #40 is one to own and keep!
