BACK TO THEATERS: BACK TO THE FUTURE II'S 35TH ANNIVERSARY

Fandango puts Back to the Future Part II back in theaters to celebrate its 35th anniversary release, on October 18 & 21.

Robert Zemeckis/Bob Gale's sequel was a big hit in November 1989, and its fun-filled, multi-layered shenanigans still please, as it spins an absorbing, alternate 1985, in the manner of It's a Wonderful Life's Pottersville. The visionary, 2015 segments are also a ton of fun in their rambunctious, Jetsons-like panache, thanks to production designer, Rick (Jurassic Park) Carter.

The sequel reunites Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly (who also plays Marty Jr.) and Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown, with Thomas F. Baines' Biff Tanner (also as his grandson, Griff), Jeff Tolkan's Mr. Strickland, Marc McClure's Dave McFly and Lea Thompson's Lorraine Baines, Marty's mom. Elizabeth Shue takes over as Marty's gal, Jennifer Parker, from Claudia Wells, and in a controversial step, Jeffery Wiseman portrays George McFly under Crispin Glover prosthetics, even though Glover does resurface in various, reused segments.

As with its initial chapter (and then with its third), Back to the Future Part II became part of the pop-culture tapestry, and some even prefer it to the 1985 original.

No matter how one ranks it within the trilogy, most will agree that Back to the Future Part II is a darn good, joyous ride.
