As reported, the tables have turned on Eighth Tower Publishing's Dark Fiction/John Carpenter homage (damn it), due to copyright complexities (see early Nov '22 post). The theme is now more an impressions-of-movies for #5, and as such, I was asked to hatch an alternate submission.
This new entry is called "Evil, Little Demon" and pulls from a number of Lovecraftian knockoffs, including Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead, and Lamberto Bava/Dario Argento's Demons set. On a subconscious whim, I also culled some Clive Barker, namely "In the Hills, the City" and "The Yattering and Jack". (In addition to the eponymous, diminutive demon, there are two huge ones: one goat-ish, i.e., Jersey Devil/Krampus-like.)
Yeah, it's a little-of-this-and-that yarn. Discerning Dark Fiction publisher/curator Raffaele Pezzella found it gruesome yet funny, which was my intent.
But what of my "Snake Against the Vampires" tale? Well, friends, it may not get that proposed name/locale-change after all (again see early Nov post). In fact, it can be found in its original form (presented via two parts) in the Eighth Tower Records Magazine, where copyright conflicts hold no impact (for better or worse), or so I've been assured.
