R.I.P. JAMES HANDY

You drew my attention in the Paul Newman/Sidney Lumet courtroom drama, The Verdict, with a slow-boil believability that's stuck with me for decades.

I suppose you could say that I became your ardent fan from that point, enough to take note of your other productions.

Those include The Rocketeer, LoganJumanji 1995, Unbreakable, Arachnophobia, Bad Sister, Unspeakable Acts, Top Gun: Maverick, ObsessedGang Related, Without Warning 1994, K-9K-911, Guarding Tess, Black & White, Gone in the Night, 15 Minutes, Taps, The Trip 2002, Ash Wednesday, Lifted, Suburbicon, The Preppie Murder, Burglar, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Bird, The O.J. Simpson Story, Quiet Victory: The Charlie Wedemeyer StoryPopeye Doyle (aka The French Connection III), Guilty Until Proven InnocentSudden Fury ... and False Arrest; plus on the episodic scene, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, The Pretender, CSI: New York, NYPD BlueThe West WingUC UndercoverMulaney, SmithThe George Carlin Show, Melrose PlaceBreaking News ... and The X-Files

It's painful to think how you lost your life (as the situation was so odd and unexpected), but it's your career that resonates, as well as your honorable and courageous service in Vietnam, for which you earned unconditional reverence.

Indeed, you've left us a body of work that'll only grow more appreciated over time, and it's through your enduring achievements, Mr. Handy, that your indomitable spirit will continue to abide. 👼
