COLLECTIBLE TIME: HALLMARK'S RODAN 2025

Last year I reviewed Hallmark's Kong and Godzilla, Keepsake ornaments, with the two behemoths represented as they appear in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (see November 2024 post). Now, another Titan has joined their ornamental ranks: the great, winged kaiju, Rodan!

The Rodan piece captures the Titan's redesign from Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019), where he exudes a craggy yet streamlined semblance. (In truth, this modern Rodan is rather dragon-like and quite gnarly, albeit in the most aesthetic way.)

Sculpted by the talented Orville Wilson, Rodan measures 6" x 4.5" x 5.75" and is pigmented in earthy, brown-greys, with his wings and tail tipped in volcanic orange.

Rodan is one of Toho's most celebrated creatures: a distinction that commenced in 1956 (when Rodan was, in fact, introduced as a terrifying twosome). Over the years, the mutant Pteranodon's look has grown more immense and menacing, with the 2019 version perhaps being the most intimidating.

I'm pleased that Hallmark tackled this one. It's a great addition to my Toho Titan collection, and you can get one of your own at your neighborhood, Hallmark shop or any number of online venues.
