COLLECTIBLE TIME: JAWS, THE SHARK MOVIE THAT CHANGED THE WORLD (50 YEARS LATER)

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's blockbuster adaptation of Peter Benchley's bestselling novel, JawsLife Magazine has reprinted its 45th Anniversary salute: a 98-page, collector's edition that'll leave fans in grateful terror.

At the time of its release, Jaws was so impactful that it scared folks into evading the water whenever they visited the beach, creating a nerve-wrecking phenomenon that spliced horror and adventure in a manner previously unimagined.

Jaws: The Shark Movie That Changed the World covers the prime, pop-cultural bases, from Benchley's conceptualization to Spielberg's recruitment (inspired by his work on Richard Matheson's Duel), which was strengthened by John Williams' Psycho-patterned score and its pitch-perfect casting, headlined by Roy Scheider as Chief Martin Brody, Loraine Gary as Ellen Brody, Richard Dryfuss as Matt Hooper, Robert Shaw as Quint and Murray Hamilton as Mayor Larry Vaughn.

Trese McBee's "biting" text is laden with superb photos, some of which grant behind-the-scenes glimpses, all framed within the magazine's aesthetic layout.

Life Magazine's Jaws: The Shark Movie That Changed the World can be purchased at bookstores, drugstores and supermarkets throughout the U.S.A. Pick up a copy to re-engage the thrills and chills that only get better with age.
