COLLECTIBLE TIME: ALTERNATE HERETIC AND EXORCISM POSTERS

I found a couple, alternate-style, poster reproductions on a fleeting, flea-market trek this weekend. Since they were reasonably priced, I snatched them up. It's also interesting, if not fated, that each submission deals with struggles of faith, and when the titles are put together, they reference an infamous, 1977 sequel. How 'bout that!

The first is a 16" x 16" print of Scott Breck/Bryan Woods' Heretic, and a dandy it is, featuring Hugh Grant's Mr. Reed and Sophie Thatcher's Sister Barnes, with a bottom-right strip that also includes their semblances, along with those of Cloe East's Sister Paxton and Topher Grace's Elder Kennedy. I appreciate the split-face (Jekyll-Hyde-ish) imagery, with the beaming, two-colored eye working in focal conjunction.

My second procurement is a 11" x 17" print of Joshua John Miller/M.A. Fortin's The Exorcism, spotlighting Russell Crowe's anguished thespian, Anthony Miller.

The design's superimposed, red-smeared cross and sketchy, copper border sets off Crowe's determined expression, and in so doing, epitomizes the movie's percolating desperation.

Heretic and The Exorcism are two of my favorite, 2024 releases, and I'm pleased to possess these fabulous, variant posters for these fabulous, unconventional fables.
