COMING SOON!: RAVENWOOD, STEPSON OF MYSTERY, VOL 5

The editing for Ravenwood, Stepson of Mystery, Vol 5 is nearing completion, and for this Airship 27 volume, there are three, thrilling fables included: Dexter Fabi's novella, Dervish in the Night, which is accompanied by Carson Demmons' "The Past Repeats Itself, but There is More than One Past" and from yours truly, "A Devil by Any Other Name." (The volume's mystical artwork is supplied by the expressive duo of Sam Salas and Adam Shaw.)

My entry is Pan-oriented, and since I hold a hardy dislike for the mythic entity (beyond, that is, Tony Randall's charming portrayal in 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, but even then, Pan is but Lao in disguise), I figured why not make him a surrogate foe for the next Ravenwood? (My aversion to Pan results from his annoying, indulgent attitude. The amoral Pan plays while others toil, remaining way too self-centered to do his fair share. Dig?)

My Pan stand-in is named Mortimer Pringle. He may look Pan-ish, but he's quite the secular "pagan," as Ravenwood comes to discover. In fact, among my characters, he's second only in grounded deceit to Palmer Perdifious from Mark Justice's The Dead Sheriff, Vol #4.

Ravenwood #5 is expected to be another huge seller for Airship 27 and a further perpetuation of creator, Frederick C. Davis' pulp legacy. I'll be certain to inform readers as soon as the volume hits print.
