ACID JAZZ BY LIQUOR STORE: KICK-ASS FUNK CONSUMPTION

Acid Jazz by Liquor Store, thanks to multifaceted artist-extraordinaire, Nicholas Price, is an EP formed for kick-ass funk consumption. This one grooves with a '70s vibe that'll fill eager ears and invigorate impassioned hearts, all to a connecting, gyrational beat.

The intoxicating opener, "The Hold Up", is a rouser and a half: smart and hot, not only in its means to make one's legs glide, but in invoking Superfly meets Three the Hard Way, but with the sorta hellish kiss that rockets one's spirit straight to Space-Age bliss.

"Supa Doopa" is its undomesticated partner: twangy and bouncy enough to turn one invincible. If the Shazam!-Isis Hour had possessed a disco banner, this would have been its emblematic, top-charting sound.

"Rolla Girl" is without question the sexist of the EP's selections: full of yank, and per its title, an invocation of Boogie Night's Heather Graham scooting every which way but loose. Nuff said.

To inject an Asian aura, "Disko Duffer" fills the bill. It swings and tightens with a jeweled, kung-fu grip, referencing Fist of Fury and Five Fingers of Death, each projected upon the drive-in screen of one's vengeful mind.

"Five Fish Eye" is the EP's apt adios: a steaming train ride with inexhaustible fuel, hitting wall after wall after wall as it heads to a fulfilling nowhere. Along the reckless ride, it contorts one's libido inside out with a burst that demands nothing less than more, more, more!

When all is said and done, Acid Jazz is a jackhammering celebration that pumps one up and never lets one down, unless it's gettin' down that one desires. How can one not do just that when consuming this vivacious concoction?

BTW: The intricate images selected for this post were rendered by Liquor Store's mastermind, Mr. Price. Behold other such audacious samples on his prolific, Facebook page at
