Ron Fortier's grim brainchild, Brother Bones, the Undead Avenger, haunts Cape Noire yet again in a startling, 48-page, graphic novel, Bullets of Jade, from Red Bud Studio and Airship 27 Productions (available through Indy Planet).
Fortier's fable centers on an assassin named Leo Sinj, who kills a Chinatown kingpin with a jade bullet, the sort that proves fatal to both mortal flesh and the ethereal. As the diligent Detective Sutter investigates, assassinations mount, bringing the grisly conundrum to Brother Bones' attention and a risky showdown that could mark his end.
Bullets of Jade holds the zest of an intricate storyboard and as such, plays like a streamlined movie, thanks to Fortier's absorbing storytelling, John Polacek's evocative, black-and-white artwork and Rob Davis' pleasing lettering.
Without question, Bullets of Jade is a pulpy, pensive delight that not only Brother Bones fans will enjoy, but anyone with a penchant for supreme, supernatural suspense.
