I remember how tremulous I was upon learning Clash of the Titans would be remade. Ah, the WB redux would be CGI'd to a fault, I thought, but as it turned out, I ended up liking the 2010 remake and its 2012 sequel, Wrath of the Titans, to the point that the duo now stands as one of my favorite, cinematic takes on Greek mythology. (The Clash revision respects the Desmond Davis/Ray Harryhausen/Beverly Cross, 1981 structure, and Wrath extends the excitement with a Pandora-ian splicing of Game of Death, Immortals and Galaxy of Terror, as it proposes the forbidding rise of Kronos.)
Arrow Video now presents a towering, double-feature box set, When Titans Ruled the Earth. Both movies have been remastered for Blu-ray/HD, and the discs come with ample extras to celebrate Perseus' epic endeavors.
For Clash, Arrow serves the following: the movie's alternate ending; deleted scenes; theatrical trailer; photo gallery; an interview with producer Basil Iwanyk; Sam Worthington/Perseus tributes; a Jason Flemyng/Calibos tribute; a Liam Neeson/Zeus tribute; a Ralph Fiennes/Hades tribute; Tenerife and Scropiach; a stunt overview; Medusa and Kraken effects segments; and the filming locations of Wales.

In addition to those exciting extras, the set includes an insightful, photo-laden book by critic Guy Adams and historian Josh Nelson; six postcards; double-sided posters and reversible sleeves featuring new and original artwork by Joe Wilson.

There's no question: This Arrow release is a loving, respectful commemoration of two of the titanic best.
