Ah, speak of perfect timing. Nicolas Picciotto pulled me from a heap of tension with his Meditations From Beyond (courtesy of Submarine Broadcasting Company). I believe these meditations are strong enough (magical enough) to soothe anyone.
The album consists of three, epic tracks, labeled by numerals: 432, 480 and 528. No matter the titles and their meanings, each entry (each chakra turn) possesses its own idyllic swing, but in combination, they create an interlocking stream that's both euphoric and transforming.
432 is the gentlest of the set: a warmup for spring's advent. Its soft yet tiering notes have the ability to placate the pounding pressure of worry and doubt. 432 is, therefore, like a layering cocoon, covering a flustered mind with feathery whispers and sunshiny rays that say, "Have faith; all will be fine."
But such a promise wouldn't hold much weight if one's cerebral ground wasn't first nurtured by rain. And 480's soothing trickles do just that, scooting down and around each gray-matter curve, giving one's thoughts healthier, brighter expansions.
With this established, one meets full ascension as 528 begins. For this final segment, Picciotto's consoling chords pull one toward a bracketing, blue sky, sewing one's soul into the cottony clouds and from there, far beyond any meager, terrestrial setting. 528 is akin to an ambitious lullaby, engineered to turn one's vantage upside down, by replacing unsettled vibes with flowery stars.
Indeed, Picciotto has constructed a wonderful, musical counter to life's arduous ways. For that, he deserves tremendous thanks.
