The Silence is Over: Clarice Comes to CBS

To feed its viewers weekly servings of mystery and horror, CBS has prepared Clarice, produced by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet (collaborators on Picard and The Mummy '17), based on  Thomas Harris' character of Hannibal Lecter fame.

Due to legal entanglements between MGM and the Dino de Laurentiis Company, Dr. Lecter won't be referenced in the series (at least not by name), which means a crossover with Mads Mikkelsen's intellectual cannibal and the edgy Clarice Starling is slim to none (right now). Bummer. I thought a team-up was a shoe-in, considering that fans have long demanded a Hannibal series revival.

Despite the vexing disassociation, Rebecca (The Originals) Breeds' FBI Agent Starling (portrayed prior by Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore) will still splash about the serial-killer cesspool, in the wake of Silence of the Lambs' distressing events (circa 1993, which to say the least, only distances a Mikkelsen visit all the further).

No matter its wee nips and tucks, Clarice should supply many sinister scenarios for connoisseurs of the macabre to devour and savor, making this series a morbid must-watch.

Clarice commences Feb 11.
