FAREWELL, KEITH BIRDSONG...

You hit the proverbial nail on the head, paying remarkable, artistic homage to all our "Star Trek" favorites.

In fact, the many novels that feature your work wouldn't be quite as grand, if not for your loving depictions.

I'm particularly fond of the way you assembled the saga's characters, like Kirk, Picard and Soran for that swell, Hamilton "Generations" plate. (There doesn't come a day when I fail to spot it on my wall and sigh in deep awe.)

You also rose to great heights as an outstanding pin-up artist, providing some of the most enticing, curvy visions one could ever hope to find. In addition, you paid respectful tribute to classic icons of every influential kind, along with historic, adventurous scenes to stir the soul and open the mind.

That you'll no longer grace this Earth with your fantastic flair is most unsettling. Still, what you've given us will remain part of legend: a stupendous, eye-catching collection for which you'll hold eternal and adored esteem.
