CLASSIC MONSTERS OF THE MOVIES ANNUAL 2024

Weird wonders dominate the 84-page (hand-numbered) Classic Monsters of the Movies Annual 2024, and what might one find behind its fabulous, John Febonio collage-cover?

Why, there's a look at the enduring, sideline efforts of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff; a salute to 1950s monsters such as the Gill-man, the Metaluna Mutant, the Colossus of New York and the Thing; and a comparison of Universal's Phantom of the Opera 1925 and 1943, starring Lon Chaney Sr. and Claude Rains, in respect to the 1962, Hammer remake with Herbert Lom. Folk horror is also essayed, with the likes of Eye of the Devil, The Witchfinder General, Children of the Corn 1984 and The Wicker Man 1973 displayed, met by a gratifying overview of cinema's stealthy, horror gumshoes.

The articles are, of course, entertaining and enriching, composed with ghoulish care by the ever diligent Nige Burton, Jamie Jones and Dave Huckvale.

There's so much to gain and savor from this latest Classic Monsters of the Movies edition that one would be downright foolish to pass it by.
