U.F.O. DEFLECTION (AN EDITORIAL)

I enjoy U.F.O. lore, whether real or imagined, fictional or factual. From wherever the mythology stems, I appreciate the mystery and imagination it inspires.

I do take issue, however, when UFOlogy is propagandized to deflect from current concerns, whether a baby-food shortage, rising gas prices, a pervert-laced laptop, abandonment in Afghanistan or a perplexing, Eastern war.

For those who now place stock in this latest Washington farce, they'd be wise to visit The Outer Limits classic, Byron Haskin/Meyer Dolinsky's "The Architects of Fear". They should also check out Alan Moore's Watchmen and Zack Synder's movie adaptation of it, which detail a similar deceptive, for-your-own-good scam.

Keep an open mind, folks, though not toward life on Mars, but rather those watching us (manipulating us) here on Earth. The enemy lies within ourselves, though even more so, among those we allow to rule.
