SALLY THE ZOMBIE CHEERLEADER'S A GHOUL'S GUIDE TO HORROR: SLEEPAWAY CAMP

Sally the Zombie Cheerleader's latest A Ghoul's Guide to Horror takes a stab at 1983's Sleepaway Camp

Some consider Sleepaway Camp an unmitigated, camp (pun intended) classic and one accessorized by the many sporty fashions of its time. In addition to acknowledging its stately apparel, Sally establishes why the film is revered, while spotlighting its writer/director, Robert Hiltzik and his avid characters.

As Sally relays, it's Felicia Rose's Angela who steals the show, since her persecution by Camp Arawak's kids make her at once sympathetic yet dangerous. In some ways, Angela is comparable to Betsy Palmer's Pamela Voorhees, but maybe more so, Anthony Perkins' Norman Bates. In truth, Sleepaway Camp's twisty situation not only recalls Friday the 13th and Psycho, but Homicidal and Deadly Blessing, especially during its final phase.

Sally's seminar is lovingly layered, so that those who appreciate the production won't feel compelled to apologize for such, and those learning about the film for the first time might consider giving it a whirl.

SALLY THE ZOMBIE CHEERLEADER'S A GHOUL'S GUIDE TO HORROR: HORROR HIGH

Sally the Zombie Cheerleader has a new program all geared up for her Fleshie friends ... er, fiends. It's called A Ghoul's Guide to Horror, in which our beloved host details an old, horror favorite, granting about ten minutes of scholarly details on its history, abetted by a dandy, new, Sally theme song.

The opening class covers Larry N. Stouffer/J.D. Feigleson's 1973, persecuted-youth effort, Horror High (aka Twisted Brain/Kiss the Teacher ... Goodbye!), starring Pat Cardi of Let's Kill Uncle and Battle for the Planet of the Apes, as the beleaguered Vernon Potts, who's teamed with (and investigated by) the distinguished Austin Stoker of Abby, Time Walker, 3 From Hell and the original Assault on Precinct 13. Stoker was also Cardi's costar (and one of the leads) in the aforementioned, Apes chapter.

Sally does a super job outlining the history of this "I Was a Teenage Jekyll/Hyde" experiment (in particular, granting an interesting rundown of its old-school, transformation effects), enough so that the even the movie's most ardent fans will come away enlightened, but to get to that contented spot, one must first join Sally's seminar, which is scheduled at
