COLLECTIBLE TIME: ROCK BAKER'S WEENA & THE MORLOCK (2 VERSIONS)

Last week, I revisited one of my favorite movies, George Pal's screen adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic novella, The Time Machine, and with Cartoon Cuties artist, Rock Baker, making it known that he was willing to complete special commissions for folks, I had a revelation.

I asked Baker to create an illustration featuring Yvette Mimieux's Weena with a Morlock and sent him a black-and-white still as the foundation for what I had in mind, though I must stress, I did not wish a precise emulation. I wanted Rock to give this one his unique spin: in other words, the freedom to do as he saw fit with the concept.

As one can see from his above illustrations, he hit the ball out of the park with two versions, emphasizing Weena propping herself upward as her aggressor, with red eyes and yellow teeth in one example, and dark eyes and white teeth in the other, emerges from behind.

I'm elated with the double-whammy surprise and consider this set to be as splendid as the Ann-Margrock image Baker fashioned for me in February 2024.

God bless you, Rock Baker, for another outstanding achievement. Once more, I'm blown away by your artistic mastery. 😊
