You did it all and did it all so well, Mister Torn, from a sturdy stay on "The Larry Sanders Show"--and far beyond.
Your films were vast, varied and above all wild, funny and fanciful. There's "One Spy Too Many"; "RoboCop 3"; "The Beastmaster"; "The Man Who Fell to Earth"; "Men in Black I-II"; "Defending Your Life"; "A Stranger is Watching"; "Dolly Dearest"; "King of Kings"; "The Cincinnati Kid"; "Hero's Island"; "The President's Plane is Missing"; "Slaughter"; "City Heat"; "Flashpoint"; "By Dawn's Early Light"; "Canadian Bacon"; "Summer Rental"; "Dodgeball"; "Airplane 2: the Sequel"; "Down Periscope"; "Beyond the Law"; "Extreme Prejudice"; "The Private Files of J. Edgar Hoover"; "The Bee Movie"; and "Disney's Hercules", to name but a few.
You were as colorful in real life as you were on celluloid, never afraid to push the envelope or skid haphazardly into the spotlight. (Your caught-in-the-moment brawl with Norman Mailer in "Maidstone" is the stuff of cinema legend.)
May you scratch and claw your way through the heavenly gates, assured that your body of work and raucous reputation will keep you alive and well on this earth.
