CLASSIC MONSTERS OF THE MOVIES #34: A WHEATLEY, TRIO TREAT & THEN SOME

Classic Monsters of the Movies #34 offers an 84-page, Dennis Wheatley treat, with the author's Hammer adaptations placed in the frightening forefront, commemorated by Daniel Horne's exquisite cover, which celebrates To the Devil a Daughter and its stars, Christopher Lee and Nastassja Kinski.

In addition to the Lee/Kinski effort, author John Logan analyzes The Devil Rides Out (aka The Devil's Bride) and The Lost Continent, based on Wheatley's adventurous Uncharted Seas, giving readers a broad view of Hammer's interesting, literary spins on the author's eclectic foundations.

To supplement the Wheatley fanfare, Issue #34 includes a bio on protean performer Donald Pleasance, by Alex Hopkins; an adoring look at Veronica Carlson by Jamie Jones; a retrospective on the karmic Flatliners (1990), by Nige Burton; a dissection of the pre-code, Moreau classic, Island of Lost Souls, by Nige Burton; a harrowing escape to The Most Dangerous Game, by Dave Huckvale; a hardy glimpse at the comedic, Boris Karloff/Peter Lorre vehicle, The Boogie Man Will Get You, by Marcus Turner; and a comprehensive rundown of cinema's "sinister ministers" (those sadistic humans who insist on holding the upper hand), by Jamie Jones.

In keeping with Classic Monsters' tradition, the contents are printed on high-stock paper, adorned by gorgeous stills and publicity imagery from the movies featured, along with Nige Burton's "Sweeney Todd's Cellar," which spotlights a bounteous batch of horror products.

Beyond any debate, Classic Monsters of the Movies #34 is a gem that all imagi-movie fans will treasure, and it can be unearthed at
