Michael Ferentino (Bedtime for Robots) has teamed with Grimes A.I. to create a pulsating-noir, Blade Runner-inspired masterpiece, entitled "Godliness."
In fact, "Godliness" is so on target in its Nexus-6 panache (featuring sweet, female-emulated vocalization) that it should be inserted into a Blade Runner follow-up, but it also supplies enough original mood to hold autonomy beyond Philip K. Dick and Ridley Scott's conceptualizations.
It's important to note that there's nothing synthetic-in-feel about this aesthetic birth (despite it being A.I.-conjoined). And that's the overriding point of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The cognitive glint of a "replicant" (or a well constructed tune) is as worthy of consideration as any flesh-and-blood installation (and in this brash instance, without the fear of Frankenstein-ish revolt). Roy Batty, for one, would agree, and you wouldn't want to argue with dear ol' Roy, would you?
What stands is melodious and therefore alive: an unmitigated slice of simulated Heaven for the ears, wired with all the dependable, Vangelis sparks and plugs. That means "Godliness" can make one waltz and groove, regardless of its origin. It's an electronic triumph of the best Ferentino/Bedtime for Robots kind.
Listen and become a believer. Ferentino's electric hymn leaves one (whether organic or synthetic) no choice but to dream far into an artistic future!
