EXCELSIOR, CHADWICK BOSEMAN...

You had only just begun to extend your influence as a thespian, Mr. Boseman, but what you planted was important and revered.

Historic figures such as James Brown, Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall were part of your resume, as well as a fine (and alas, overlooked) performance as Thoth in the unjustly maligned "Gods of Egypt".

It was, however, as T'Challa, the Black Panther, ruler of Wakanda, in which you gained your greatest fame, starring in four epic, Marvel movies. In that noble role, you showed us not only how to avenge, but to forgive and persevere, setting forth a path that all generations might follow.
