AC'S (ALL GOOD GIRLS GO TO) HEROINE HEAVEN

A big shoutout to AC for initiating the series, (All Good Girls Go To) Heroine Heaven! Three, all-color (20-page), pro-American issues are now in circulation and include reprints of vintage, female, derring-do comics from the 1940s that give Mary Marvel and Wonder Woman a run for their courageous money.

Issue #1 celebrates feisty redhead, Firestorm (with artwork by Jim Mooney), honorable Lady Fairplay (with artwork by Jack Ryan) and the perennial Miss Victory (with artwork by Nina Albright): a sensational selection to get this series soaring. (The striking cover is by legendary Wally Wood.)

Issue #2 highlights Great Comics' Madame Strange (with artwork by Chuck Winters), Contact Comics' Black Venus (with artwork by Charles Tomsey) and Red Seal Comics' Lady Satan (with artwork by Ralph Mayo), who deliver heaps of devilish, good-girl delight on each and every page. (The Perils of Pauline-esque cover comes from AC's masterminds, Mark and Stephanie Heike.)

For Issue #3, readers are treated to the ultra-rare Golden Girl (Golden Lad's heir apparent, with artwork by Louis Ravielli), USA: "The Spirit of Old Glory" (with artwork by Maurice Gutwirth) and The Veiled Avenger (with artwork by Gus Ricca): a trio of patriotic proportions to make one's heart (and libido) sing with pride! (The high-flying cover is also by the consummate Heikes.)

For those who enjoy AC's Femforce and Superbabes, Heroine Heaven works in the same, energizing manner, presenting the attractive forerunners of the publishers' continuing queue. With that said, there's no way that the issues' pin-up and sermonic qualities won't please.

And just when I thought it couldn't get more nostalgic, I learn that Issue #4 is now in development. Oh, yeah, I'm all set for more of those sweet, sexy blasts from the past! (I just have to wait for that inevitable call from good ol' Dale at Steve's Comic Relief, on Quakerbridge Rd, in Lawrenceville NJ, to tell me it's in and then ...  Whoopee!)
