STECKLER MEETS FULCI: THE ESTRELLA/CARMELITA CROSSOVER

I thank those who've devoured my story, "Summer Urges", which is included in Raffaele Pezzella's Dark Fiction/Eighth Tower Publishing volume, The Beyond: Stories Inspired by the Lucio Fulci Death Trilogy

As my followers know, my tale acts as a semi-sequel to Fulci's Gates of Hell, but there's a dash of Dennis (Cash Flagg) Steckler's The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies in there, as well.

My tale's Incredibly Strange-inspired gypsy springs from Erino Enyo's hypnotic dancer, Carmelita, and her mesmerizing "mentor," Brett O'Hara's Madame Estrella (a crafty combo of the characters, if one will). Since "Summer Urges" has a carny/boardwalk ambiance about it, I couldn't help but think of Steckler's movie and of course, Enyo/O'Hara's portrayals. There's also a splotch of Cinzia Monreale's enticing Emily from The Beyond in my fable, but for the most part, my Fulci mystic crawled from Steckler lore.

I suppose this tidbit won't make or break my story, but for those astute enough to have caught it (and a few have), there's the official confirmation.

If you haven't yet delved into "Summer Urges", or Dark Fiction's The Beyond in general, it's well worth a whirl:
