My good friend and retired co-worker, Leslie Foster, surprised me with an early birthday package, consisting of four, 11" x 13", high-stock poster-cards representing a few of my favorite things (and people).
I'll commence the queue with the above salute to Tod Browning/Bela Lugosi's classic Universal smash. I love the lurid design on this one, including the skeletal, spookshow trimmings. Bloody cool, man!
Accompanying the Drac '31 image is a lusty shot from the Francis Ford Coppola's '91 edition, Bram Stoker's Dracula, which spotlights the Count's comely brides treating themselves to Keanu Reeve's Jonathan Harker. Ah, if only it were me!
Then there's a dandy Elvis Presley in white, sequined jump suit and red scarf, against a complementing, black backdrop. (It appears this one sprung from the Philly Inquirer as a special, Sunday supplement.) Indeed, a shining tribute to the one-and-only eternal King.
Last but not least is the Dynamic Trio from Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin, starring George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone. Yeah, the film might be controversial, but man, did WB put out some swell stuff to promote it, and this "Heroes" one is a spiffy case in point.
Thank you, Leslie, for striking a positive chord right down the line. This fantastic quartet sure does symbolize me to the tee!
