An Alternate Reality: Molina v Holland

A couple months back I reported that Vincent D'Onofrio wished to bring his Netflix Kingpin to Tom Holland's "Spider-man 3". I guess that was just wishful thinking, but Wilson Fisk's established heft would sure as hell make a welcome addition to the progressing, live-action, Spider-verse saga.

If D'Onofrio isn't to grace us with his formidable frame, it at least appears that Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus of Tobey Maguire's "Spidey 2" will, for the actor has been spotted on the set of Holland's "Spidey 3". This would then team Doc Ock with Jamie Foxx's Electro of Andrew Garfield's "Spidey 2" and match them both with J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson of Maguire's trilogy and Holland's "Spidey 2'"s climaxing twist. (More characters from prior, cinematic chapters, including multi-Peter Parkers {and their linking performers}, might enter the scene as well, and one rumor has it that the next Spidey movie could very well be a surprise "Sinister 6". We shall see.)

Sound messy? Maybe, but I believe the mashup will web-sling its way into many a Marvel fan's heart and be a cool companion piece to DC's in-the-works, multiverse "Flashpoint", if that double-the-Batman submission gets off the ground, as I hope and pray that it does.

Despite all the theatrical, parallel potential, the success of further, ultra-budget, superhero flicks really lies in whether COVID terrorism continues to spread and how soon it will end. (I guess it all comes down to when the pandemic's magnanimous puppeteers decide to cut the strings.) Even so, if all goes according to the grand, movie-making plan, we should be in for a real, Tristar "nuff said" treat. Stan the Man is no doubt looking down with profuse pride.
