Collectible Time: The Warriors Poster/Lobby Cards

I (as do a legion of others) dig Walter Hill's The Warriors. Based on Sol Yorick's novel (in its own right, structured after Xenophon's Anabasis), the 1979 opus presents a parallel-reality, gangland journey from the Bronx to Coney Island. The movie is also a spiritual cousin to A Clockwork Orange, Assault on Precinct 13Escape from New York and The Wanderers. In this respect, The Warriors captures the sort of gritty, beat-the-odds ambiance I favor.

On a mere, fated whim (and right on the heels of reviewing Clintflick's Warriors-tinged album, Rawk and Roll: see July 2nd post), I landed some promotional items for the movie at an alleyway swap meet. The table's contents weren't necessarily movie-oriented, but protruding from a stack of crummy, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report editions, I found my treasures!

My post's kick-off image is a 11" x 17" variant-poster, followed by 11" x 14" lobby-card reproductions, which highlight a handful of the movie's characters, portrayed by Michael Beck, James Remar, Dorsey Wright, David Harris, Marcelino Sanchez, Tom McKitterick, Deborah Van Valkenburgh and Jery Hewitt.

Though I've inserted "stock" shots in my post to convey better clarity, trust me when I say, my items mirror the inserts' striking hues and smooth quality.

The Warriors is a cult classic. Anything related to it is worth possessing. Maybe on future quests, I'll discover additional tie-ins inspired by this imaginative and influential fable. Wish me luck!😉
