My dear friend, Mel, just gave me two spectacular, Christmas gifts, culled from the contemplative WB/DC/Matt Reeves blockbuster, The Batman.
Robert Pattinson's James Dean-ish version of the Caped Crusader is showcased first, in a 12" McFarlane Toys/Multiverse-series, plastic statue that ripples with dark-armored determination. Batman's pose is anguished and intimidating as he gazes with his Batarang from his gray-bricked base. (As a neat bonus, the figure comes with a collectible card.)
And to offset our hero's virtuous menace, there's Paul Dano's unsettling Ridder, characterized by his goggled countenance and thick, green, questioned-marked jacket.
The Riddler is complemented by a dingy, wooden-floor base, as he holds his ice pick, murder weapon: a scary chap, indeed, who dared to bring Gotham to its knees, in order to expose a great, tendriled conspiracy. (The Riddler also comes with a collectible card.)
This impressive set is one I eyed for quite some time, but assumed such would bypass me. However, thanks to Mel, my yearning has been placated. Ah, what a generous, omniscient lady!
