GOODBYE, EDDIE JONES...

To Superman fans, you achieved iconic status, playing Pa (Jonathan) Kent on "Lois and Clark".

However, your charm distinguished other stand-out portrayals.

On television, there were memorable moments in "The Equalizer"; "Tales From the Darkside"; "Castle"; "The Young Riders"; "The Big O"; plus a recurring role as "the Official" in the 2000-2001 version of "The Invisible Man".

On the big screen, you beamed like a seasoned champ in "C.H.U.D."; "The Rocketeer"; "Sneakers"; "Cadillac Man"; "Seabiscuit"; "Return to Me"; "Year of the Dragon"; "Apprentice to Murder"; "Trading Places"; "Fighting Tommy Riley"; "A League of Their Own"; "The Grifters"; and "The Day Lincoln Was Shot".

You'll be unceasingly recalled for your humility and urbanity, Mr. Jones: a man whose earthy and soulful contributions won't soon be forgotten.
