SO LONG, CARLOS EZQUERRA...

You shook the world of "2000 AD" on several levels, but in none so great a way as when you co-created one of Britain's finest:  Judge Dredd.

Your artistic talents ignited additional offbeat and gritty realms, including collaborations with Robert Ennis on "Bloody Mary"; "Hitman"; "Just a Pilgrim"; "Preacher" and "Adventures in the Rifle Brigade". You even visualized Harry Harrison's celebrated "Stainless Steel Rat" on more than a few occasions.

On the long-haul front, your team-ups with Dredd co-creator, John Wagner on "Battle Picture Weekly"; "Strontium Dog" (with good ol' Johnny Alpha); "Star Lord"; and the super-sexy "Durham Red" have become part of comic-book legend, matching idealized gleam with austere, Mad Max sensibilities.

You were a genuine rebel, sticking to your guns when it came to your characters' codes and outcomes, but that's just one of the many reasons you're so revered--and steered for immortality.
