Farewell, David Bowie...
You were truly the Starman in every way, inspiring us with your celestial songs and otherworldly portrayals. You are undoubtedly part of a higher existence now...but then, you always were. Godspeed, wherever you may go...
Have had Bowie on my mind as of late, in that my brother shared some “Man Who Fell to Earth” bits with me recently, and of course, I revisited the lovely Christmas duet with Bing Crosby only a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteThere’s also an element of “The Hunger” in “American Horror Story: Hotel”, and I thought it would have been cool if Bowie had made a cameo on it, but alas…
Too bad the proposed film version of "Mandrake, the Magician" didn't come about with Bowie in the lead. I remember reading about its proposal, that it was to have gone into production, but alas... It would have been interesting to see Bowie's take on the character. Bet it would have been cool and smooth.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "The Hunger"--not the movie, but rather the television anthology--I wonder why such isn't more readily available or known. Terence Stamp hosted the first season, but Bowie guided the second. As I recall, I found several of the episodes rather interesting, though I never got to see the entire run of either season. Perhaps with Bowie's passing, a renewed interest in the show will occur. Would be nice.
