Batman v Superman Trailer Premieres
The official "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer has premiered, and boy, does it ever do its job. It's riddled with mood, a brush of "Dark Knight Returns" and flows with garrulous, mainstream-media chants and unsettling images: a denouncement of heroes, alas. Nonetheless, that's the way it goes today, in reality as well as fiction, but this one will likely make a profound statement on the situation.
I'm not in favor of these two favorites being pitted against each other over any significant stretch, but the conflict should iron itself out, I believe, once the story gets rolling. Anyway, this one sure looks like it has the makings of something epic...something thought-provoking......something classic. We'll see...
Also viewed the new "Force Awakens" trailer. Pretty good, especially the end with Han and Chewy. I only hope the old gang lasts throughout the next three chapters, and we're not treated to mere, extended cameos.Who knows, though, what's really in store. No sense in jumpin' the gun. Again, we'll see...
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect, the "Batman v Superman" trailer, I might add, has that "Watchmen" feel. I think that's a promising sign. To distinguish its tone from "Marvel's Avengers", this is a wise path to take. Also, well in advance of its release, it hurls the Zach Snyder effort into a different mood realm, preparing audiences better for its somber advent. The inevitable "Justice League" film should also embody this contemplative approach. The DC/WB strand will then find its noble niche, leaving room for Disney's admirable, high-flying adventure on one end, while offering a cynical, dark variation on the other. Yes, a wise choice, I believe, on the part of the "Batman/Superman" producers...if that's, in fact, what's happening.
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, caught the Adam West/Chris Reeve fan mock-up of the "Batman/Superman" trailer. It turned out better than I'd have guessed! A cool homage!
ReplyDeleteSaw the San Diego Comic Con extended trailer for "Batman v Superman" and found the filler quite insightful. (It was also nice to see Diana Prince/Wonder Woman featured.) I'm more confident than ever that we're in for a fine, somber epic.
